These pinwheels are impossible to resist. They disappear in a couple of minutes every time I build them. Because they’re so simple to pick up and eat, they’re ideal as a finger snack. You end up putting more food in your mouth than you anticipated.
Because they contain all of the same Ingredients as the wildly famous crack chicken dip that you can prepare in the Instant Pot, I’ve heard these pinwheels referred to as crack chicken pinwheels. Cream cheese, crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, small chunks of chicken, and dry Ranch dressing powder make up the filling.
You’ll Need the Following Ingredients
Here are the You’ll Need the Following Ingredients to make these chicken bacon ranch pinwheels.
- Cream cheese – Make sure it’s softened by removing it from the fridge at least 30 minutes before using it.
- Shredded cheddar cheese — I like to shred my own cheese from a block, but if it’s simpler for you, you may buy pre-shredded cheese. Use Monterey jack or a Mexican cheese mix to provide some variety.
- Cook the chicken breasts and slice them into tiny pieces. This is a fantastic way to repurpose leftover chicken or rotisserie chicken.
- Bacon — a few slices of well-cooked, crumbled bacon.
- Green onions — In a meal like this, I like to use green onions instead of raw onions since raw onions are so overbearing.
- A single package of dry ranch dressing mix is plenty. Ranch powder is also available in bigger quantities. I use it for a variety of purposes!
- Flour tortillas — the best flour tortillas are large 8-10′′ flour tortillas. To square them up a little, I just chopped off approximately 1/2-1′′ on the sides. You may also use lavash wrappers, which are square and don’t need any of the edges chopped off. It’s not essential to chop any off if you don’t care about aesthetics.
Chicken Bacon Ranch Pinwheels: How to Make Them
In a mixing dish, whisk together the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, chicken, bacon, green onion, and Ranch dressing mix. Stir until everything is completely blended.
To make the tortillas a little more square, cut approximately 1 inch off the ends. Spread the cream cheese mixture equally between the tortillas, going all the way to the edges.
Roll the tortillas firmly and press the ends together to bind them. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes before slicing and serving, covered in plastic wrap.
Alternatives & Suggestions
You can modify up these pinwheels in a variety of ways to create a number of different sorts at once or simply to mix up your typical appetizer every now and again.
Here are a few of our personal favorites:
- For a Christmas party, use a spinach or tomato wrap and combine all three colors!
- Use a garlic & herb, chives, or jalapeno cream cheese instead of plain. In fact all the Philadephia flavors would be good.
- Replace the bacon with chorizo or a piece or two of Prosciutto before rolling.
Is it Possible to Make Pinwheels Ahead of Time?
Yes, you may make them up to two days ahead of time. They don’t become soggy or lose their integrity for at least a couple of days if they’re tightly covered. Because you can prepare these ahead of time and have them on hand for a few days, they make a terrific snack or after-school snack for your kids.
Is it Possible for Them to Be Frozen?
These pinwheels can be frozen. After thawing for around 6 hours in the refrigerator, the components will return to their original temperature. You may store them frozen for up to 2 months in the freezer, wrapped firmly to prevent freezer burn.
