According to nature’s law our internal body chemistry functions in an alkaline environment. The cells of the body in normal health situation are alkaline. Alkaline is neutralized by Acid and the more acid the cells become; the sicker we become.
Since our body does not manufacture alkaline, we must supply it with alkaline from an outside resources to keep us from becoming acidic.
Food is the mean of replenishing the alkaline to the body.
Food is of two types, acidic or alkaline.
All Tamasic food is highly acidic, and by taking it we increase our acidity level. Due to this excessive acidity, the blood becomes acid-dominated. Being overworked, the blood-purifying organs of the body like liver, kidneys and lungs also become weak, and the patient feels depleted.
When the blood is very acidic its capacity to carry oxygen becomes very weak and one can feel tired and exhausted very quickly as oxygen fails to be delivered to the body cells, and the heart muscle has to work harder. That is why non vegetarians have high risk of having heart diseases and heart failure.
This over-acidity of the blood also causes swelling and consequent pain in different parts of the body, especially the joints.
